Introducing Outcryer Journal
We hope you’ve loved reading Outcryer Daily over the last two months. On August 3rd, our artistic twin roars onto the Internet.
July 31, 2015
It’s been a heady couple of months for us over here at Outcryer. Eight weeks in and we’ve caught the eye of The A.V. Club, conducted an exclusive interview with one of Jewish American literature’s most divisive voices, and published our first collection of stories. Thanks for sticking with us!
But that’s not all we’ve got for you. This publication was designed as a binary system, and so far, you’ve only seen half — the Daily half. That changes this coming Monday, when our comrades over at the Journal, a trimesterly creative publication, perform their first friendly month-long takeover. But don’t take our word for it. Take theirs:
The Outcryer Journal will function as an extension of the artist. Firmly believing in art for art’s sake, we let the artist take the reins on deciding what they want to say and show. We’ll introduce each feature with a team review on why we think the talent is so awesome, followed by each artist’s thoughtful (and often hilarious) responses to a series of interview questions.
You’ll find that we chose to introduce the artists by name first, instead of labeling them under a craft. Many of our artists are multi-faceted, and confining them into a genre felt like cheating them of an all-encompassing review. So get ready for some poetic photographers, melodic painters, and stand-up musicians. Craving something different? Perhaps instead you’d fancy some edgy directors, charismatic storytellers, or enlightened muralists? Any way you turn, you’ll find a new and talented artist we’re very much enamored with. Be on the lookout every Monday through Thursday during the month of August for some seriously stellar work.
We’d like to thank the Daily for seamlessly holding down the fort during our first two months; our fabulous web designer, Tim Corlett, for creating a beautiful site to house the art; and of course all our wonderful artists, without whom none of this would be possible. We’re incredibly excited to see this vision become a reality, and hope you enjoy it as much as we already do.
That’s all for now from this side of the site, as our freewheelin’ story-dealin’ Daily team takes a month off to plan the rest of the year. We may pop up now and then with some surprises for you, but from now until August 31, the Journal’s the place. Until then, be in touch. We can’t wait to hear what you have to say.
